The Cooperatives foresee a production of wine and must of 36.2 million hectolitres

The production of wine and must could be in the current season in Spain at 36.29 million hectolitres, which represents a drop of 9% compared to the previous year, according to the first forecast made by Agro-food Cooperatives.

In 2021, about 40 million hectolitres were obtained and the average of the last five years is around 42 million.

According to the cooperatives, the grapes present good quality and absence of diseases in general.

The crop had enough water in winter and at the beginning of spring, which allowed a good vegetative development, but the excessive heat of the last months and the consequent water stress suffered by the vineyard has made the grape have less weight.

The cooperatives also highlight that this year is one of the most advanced harvests that are remembered, with 2 or 3 weeks earlier than usual.
