Agroseguro has received claims in the Valencian Community due to the hail storms of recent days that reflect damage in more than 4,300 hectares of vineyards, which accounts for more than 40% of the area insured in the area.
Agroseguro sources have pointed out that the hail storms that have occurred since 25 August have affected several crops located in different areas of the interior and east of the peninsula, where they have caused serious damage.
In the Valencian Community, rain and wind storms recorded since last Thursday have caused particularly serious damage in the Valencian region of Requena-Utiel, where they unloaded accompanied by hail and have caused damage to more than 4,300 hectares of vineyards.
The assessment of damages in the affected areas has already begun, so Agroseguro reminds insured producers the importance of sending claims reports as soon as possible, in order to speed up and coordinate the tasks of expertise.
In Castilla-La Mancha the storms have unloaded with force during the weekend and have caused serious damage in horticultural production (mainly pepper, lettuce, onion and broccoli), nuts (pistachio and walnut) and vineyards of the provinces of Albacete and Cuenca.
In addition, this Monday hail storms unloaded on the northern half of the peninsula, generating losses in plots of vines and fruit -mainly pears- of La Rioja and Navarra, productions that are close to harvest or already begun, and where the claims received so far total almost 2,000 hectares insured.
In Castile and León, there is damage in sunflower production of Soria and in vineyard of Valladolid, although in this case the hail occurred accompanied by widespread rains, which may favor the damages are of lower intensity. In Aragon, mainly fruit trees and maize from the region of Bajo Cinca (Huesca), as well as vines and almond trees from Campo de Borja (Zaragoza) are expected to be damaged.
