More than two thousand people attended the 10th Wine Festival held in the Gardens of the Constitution Park of Tomelloso after last day 26, Day of the Winegrower at the Fair and Festivals of Tomelloso, had to be suspended due to adverse weather.
The mayor of the city, Inmaculada Jiménez, attended the event accompanied by the Godmothers and the Godfather of the Fair and Festivals with the booths of the seven participating wineries and cooperatives: Bodegas Centro Españolas, Verum, Casaquemada, Bodegas Bodegas San José, Tomelloso Wine Cooperative, Viña Ruda and Cooperativa Virgen de las Viñas Bodega y Almazara.

The Wine Festival allows local wineries and cooperatives to show the good product they produce and also “create brand and identity of the city,” said the mayor. In this tenth anniversary has joined the Wine Festival the DO La Mancha, with a stand in which different activities were developed, contributing to promote “the sense of belonging to a Designation of Origin” and has improved the image, Replacing the catavinos that was delivered at the entrance in previous editions with a glass of larger dimensions, silkscreened with the logo of Tomelloso, “because good wines must be tasted in a good glass”, said the mayor. Attendees also received at the entrance a very light and useful cup holder to tour the stands.
From 21:00h until 1:00h in the morning, the Gardens of the Park hosted the great Wine Festival of the town and attendees could taste the wines of the seven local wineries participating.
The mayor toasted with the representatives of the wineries and cooperatives for a good harvest campaign, “adjusted in prices” and for obtaining some good wines. All this, he concluded, “will benefit the economy of the town in the coming months”.
He also took the opportunity to remember that the next month of October will take place in the city another important event with the local agri-food sector, the show “Degusta Tomelloso”, which since last year is celebrated, as the rest of activity related to the sector (tasting contests, conferences, demonstrations or tastings) outside the week of Fair and Parties to give it greater prominence.
