The Juice Summit kicks off on Wednesday, October 12 with a welcome cocktail and an evening of networking to open the long-awaited conference. All plenary debates are scheduled for the following day, on Thursday 13 October, and will address some of the most pressing discussion points of the fruit juice industry: nutrition and health, market and trends, technological innovations and working together as an industry. towards sustainability.
Nutrition and health
The aim of this session is to share different perspectives and ideas on how fruit juice can be included in healthy and sustainable diets that aim to achieve lower caloric intake among consumers. What are some of the current challenges with fruit juice production and consumption in terms of nutrition and health trends? How can we overcome these challenges as an industry? And what is the fruit juice of the future? The panelists will answer these questions from an academic and scientific point of view, from a commercial perspective and also from a consumer point of view.
Market and trends
Climate change and the resulting regulatory measures are creating a challenging environment for all food and beverage applications using processed fruits and vegetables. On the one hand, we see increasing volatility on the supply side; on the other hand, plant-based ingredients have become important components of sustainable consumer product solutions. Innovations in new, healthy and attractive products will motivate new and existing consumers in different parts of the world to buy products that fit their lifestyle trends. At the Juice Summit, the organizers invited experts to discuss their vision of market development and the evolution of consumer trends.
Technological innovations
This session tries to find new ways to overcome problems using recent discoveries and new applications in molecular biology, digital transformation, effective production methods and the ingenuity of ‘novice’ companies with disruptive ideas. A look beyond the fence to other branches will aim to share innovative ideas among the audience. Participants will be introduced to a new breeding technology that uses gene editing by CRISPR Cas, a Nobel Prize-winning technology in 2020. It highlights the potential of digital transformation in precision agrotechnology, as well as other new approaches in technological applications and disruptive business models. .
The Juice Industry’s Journey to Sustainability
As a result of the ambitious sustainability targets imposed by global regulators, many companies are already taking steps in the fruit juice sector, but it is not easy to act on your own in a impactful, credible and affordable way. How can we, as an industry, continue to ensure that our actions result in the required positive change? How can we align our efforts and work together with other sectors to put our food systems on a sustainable path?
This session will explore the possibilities of fostering industry-wide collaboration to effectively meet science-based sustainability goals. Panelists will share their experiences on how they are addressing sustainable transformation as they bring together different actors in the value chain. When it comes to sustainability, everyone should participate, regardless of company size or geographical location; the discussion will answer all your burning questions about how to act responsibly and join the movement to influence change.
